Practical Driving Test
[info]yi_hao
Had my last test before i obtain my driving license.Woke up damn early this morning and i was really nervous i could not sleep well last night.Went early to ubi, reached at about 10.10AM and had a chat with Mr Heng, before I went into the room to submit my particulars to get a tester to test me Mr Heng rub my shoulders and told me not to worry and i will surely pass. Then while waiting for the instructor Mr Heng specially came outside the room to tell me that he has already parked the car however as there was no other lots he has to park beside the kerb and he warned me about that.He also told me that his two other learners that took the test passed today the first guy passed with 16 points the second was a girl she passed with 12 points so he told me in teochew(if there is 2 there will be 3 also he told me to get 10 points)All these although may seem like its not worth much but i really appreciate it Mr Heng really go all out for his learner he tries his very best to get all his learners to pass at one go.Then came my tester, walked to the car with him( Mr Tan Seet Hong)a very nice guy,he warned me before we move off that there is a kerb beside for he said that i am not able to see the kerb beside. Then we went on to the circuit,I stalled the engine like 4-5 times for i was really really nervous. Then everything was smooth untill we exit the circuit,When i was turning right then when i tried to keep left a motorbike suddenly appeared,Mr Tan almost pulled the handbrakes but lucky me i jammed the brakes hard and i said i was sorry and we proceeded. At that point of time i was dishearted for i knew i had already failled for i failled to confirm the safety of others and for my action i cause others to take evasive action. But i still drive on Mr Tan also constantly remind me of the possible errors i will make. Then came the point where i forgotten to switch to gear one when i move off and he reminded me about it,I changed back the gear and i move off we went to the main road and i was told to change lane from the extreme right to the extreme left lane and turn left i panicked and i did not know what to do so i told Mr Tan "Sir the traffic flow is too heavy i can't turn" and he told me"its not can't change lane is u do not know how to judge and i think u need more lessons on changing lanes" when i heard that i just change lane no matter how many cars there were and i was like really really sad for these word means i will need more pratice which just means hey u failled try harded next time. When we trun back to the circuit i took a little more time to turn for i wanted to confirm that this time there are really no more vehicles approaching.Stop the car and came out I saw Mr Heng and i told him die la sure fail la and he he told me shhhh can pass.Went up and I Really Pass.I was so happy and i ran all the way to Mr Heng's car to tell him the good news. I really must thank Mr Heng for being suh a good instructor and i am glad that i choose him as my instructor,he is patient and he really has the experience he makes sure that his learners can master not only the basics of driving also he ensures that his learners are patient in driving and they make safety their priority. In my opinion Mr Heng is the best driving instructor you can find so if you are looking for an instructor go to him i am sure you will not regret your choice. And i hope that everyone can learn from the mistakes i make and do not make these mistakes when you drive.

Thirteen Driving lesson

Had my last driving lesson today with Mr Heng, went to the circuit today again. Was rather nervous for tomorrow will be my test, accidentally bang a pole down which was a mistake by which i should not have made after so many lessons but i made the mistake for i was not concentrating. Mr Heng being very patient did not scream at me instead he told me where did i went wrong. For parallel parking i always park too close to the outer line, Mr Heng always has to remind me to turn back the last round only when i see the base of the second pole at the back. Also a point to note will be that when there is a stop sign just stop there are many drivers that follow the 1st car very closely and when they come to the stop sign they stop behind the 1st car when that car move off and they become the 1st car the do not stop they just happpily move off.

Twelve driving lesson

Went for my 1st early morning driving lesson today, lesson started at 7AM and it was a circuit lesson. The circuit was like damn quiet and you probably feel as thou u own that whole place.Made several mistakes today, the same old ones which includes dragging gear and when i am suppose to exit circuit i still cannot figure out how to cut out diagonally. Also had a problem with confirming safety, for when i turn i do not turn my head to check before i proceed.

Eleven driving lesson

Nothing much about my driving lesson today, drove around ubi.Made the same mistake which is dragging the gear again.Well i will really have to correct this before my test. However today i became more observant for i look out for vehicles around me like the cars behind me in front of me and so on.Also travel at a lower speed.Tried not to drag the gear so much which i can say was a little successful for i still drag the gear a little.Ok just to state a few facts about learning from a driving school and from a private instructor. Many people claim that driving school students get earlier test dates but thats not true.I got my test date alot earlier than the school students. The test date actually depends on how the instructor thinks of the student if your instructor feels that you are up to standard then he or she will push you to go for the earlier test date if you are not up to standard then even when your test date is up they will not let you go for the test.People also claim that driving school pass rate is very high, but if you get a good private instructor the passing rate is also very high, take Mr heng as an example 2 out of 3 of his students can pass the TP test on first try.To pass you will firstly need a good instructor to teach you all the basics and then from there he continue to guide you to learn more and when you make mistakes he will guide you and not scold you because he is pissed that you strike the kerb with his car and that his tires are new so he scolds you.Private lessons are also alot cheaper than school rates. If you are willing to spend money you might as well go attend more driving lessons with a private instructor than to waste it on the high fees impossed by the school. The bottomline is to get a good driving instructor and that there are many myths about the benefits of learning from a driving school, experience it and you will agree with what i say.

Tenth Driving Lesson

Finally had ten driving lessons.Drove around the test routes again today, was not really paying attention again and i tried to beat the red light for i thought that once you pass the white line by a bit you can just pass even if the lights are red.For this i gt Mr Heng to stop the vehicle for me by pulling the handbrakes and was told that if the tester had to pull the handbrakes or ask me to stop i will fail on the spot. Also when going through the test route behind the showroom where there are a lot of care i did show improvements by keeping a further distance from the cars and to wait for the cars on the right to pass before cutting slightly into the next lane so as to keep 1.5metres away from the stationary vehicles. However at the last junction i sped up to like 40+km/hr and kept less than 1m away from the vehicles. So when testing do not make the same mistakes like i do.Also remebered to keep a lookout for that Big Yellow box i mention in my last post when travelling along test route 1,2 and 3.

Nine driving lesson

Went to ubi early today for Mr Heng wants me to go see how is it like when i take the test.He show me where to report on the actual test day,the he said that i will have to submit his insurance,my PDL and my NRIC  on the tray in the 1st room you see when you enter from gate 3.Then take a sit wait for them to asign you a tester the go to your vehicle, afterwhich turn into the circuit finish with the circuit and then turn out if the tester does not say anything then keep left and turn left if he says to turn right then keep right and turn right to exit from gate 2.When you are done return back to driving centre. If you are turning in from the coffee shop direction the turn in to the left lane if you are coming from honda showroom then turn in to the right lane.after that turn into the yellow box infront of the coffeeshop if there is no vehicle stop at the front yellow box then turn off your engine and go to the room on the second level with your tester. There he will brief you on your driving results and the mistakes you made.If you pass proceed on to watch the video on level one which has some schedule time and it should last for about 10mins.After whch prceed to level 2 again to take a queue number to apply for your driving license which requires your IC and your passport size photo.

Had my lesson at about 2.30PM started driving outside, when turning out to one of the test routes there is a slope which i forgot to apply the 4 steps to apply when met with a slope. When you are driving up a slope the 1st step is to pull the handbrakes then change to gear 1 afterwhich tap the accelerator get the RPM to go to 1.5 to 2(Depending on the gradient of the slope) the release clutch pedal till biting point hear that engine vibrate then check that you can proceed before releasing the handbrakes. Also for afew test routes you will come to a bus stop and before the traffic light there is a big yellow box which do not have any space for vehicles to pass through to wait for the traffic light to turn green DO NOT attemp to move infront of the yellow box for there is no space for the vehicle to stop.Once you move in during the test you fail so remember not to go into the yellow box.

Eight Driving lesson
[info]yi_hao
Went for my eight driving lesson today.went driving around the test routes,my biggest problem today is that i kept too close to the stationary vehicles on the left. The right distance should be about 1 meter away but i kept so close to the vehicles that the side mirror almost rub against each other.Another problem which is really persist would be that i really love to drag the gear,I just don't know why i love to drive using gear 1 and i can drag till about 25km/h for gear 1 which is really bad for at times i drag even more. Also i do not make an effort to check the blind spots and mirror, and i get distracted very easily.I guess i will have to further work on all these for i have less than 2 weeks to my test.

Seven driving lesson
[info]yi_hao
Mr Heng is busy today thus i had 2 hrs lesson with his friend Mr Henry. All i can say is that the car is new(really new) and i can't adapt to it also i prefer Mr Heng to teach me for i guess i am already used to his teaching methods. This 2hrs was really tough and i did not manage to enjoy myself at all.All we did was drive around outside,I cannot get use to the car and constantly got scolded for dragging gears, ppl out dere pls consider carefully before you make a choice for instructors for at times you might not get used to the car or even the teaching method. It would be best to stick to one instructor and one car so you do not need to try and adapt to so different methods and styles of teaching.

Six driving lesson
[info]yi_hao
Was suppose to go for lessons last week but my dog was ill so i had to skip a lesson.Had 2 hrs of lesson today 1st lesson was driving out on the road and learning reverse parking and to refresh my memory on parallel parking. The other hr was in circuit, learn to drive up the slope which was damn steep,in order to brake before the white line you got to let go of accelerator once you are up on the slope(when you feel that the front of the car is going downwards) and allow car to roll down after which apply the brakes gently. Also when doing reverse parking full lock left upon seeing the 1st pole when it disappear then turn 1 round to right when it reappear full lock to left again if pole does not appear just reverse till you see 3rd right pole then turn 1 round to the right upon seeing that the vehicle is parallel to the kerb turn 1 more round to the right then stop when your shoulder aligns with the middle pole. When trying out directional change drive all the way straight and stop near the end of the road then count 3 and a half painted kerb markings which is the black white black white marking, reverse till your shoulder align with the marking(which is 3 and a half kerb marking) then make a full turn to the right, when your shoulder aligns with the kerb (the rounded edge on the left)turn one round to the left when the car is parallel to the kerb make another left turn.

Fifth driving lesson
[info]yi_hao
Finally had my fifth driving lesson today, as usual i arrived at ubi 1hr++ earlier.Got on the car at 2PM and off we go to tampines again, went to the bus carpark to learn U-turn.To make a U-turn you must first check for on-coming vehicles, then check the rear mirrors, check on the side mirrors then lastly check on the blindspot before making the turn. When turning do not cross your hands. Also do remember to reduce speed when approaching bends and when turning.Again today i made mistakes when turning for i did not reduce speed,Also when i was told to step on the clutch pedal when there was a slow moving lorry ahead i did not, when Mr Heng asked me why i did not do as told i replied him telling him that i remember him saying that once step on the clutch pedal the vehicle will move even faster.Which he said was a good answer however when the vehicle is moving at a slow speed stepping on the clutch will not cause it to go at a faster speed.I am like 1 month away from my test and i am still making alot of errors which i should not be making really wish to correct them before my test date.
